Concert “The Seasons”

On 16 November 2023, at 18:00, we invite you to the concert “The Seasons”. In this concert you will hear ‘The Seasons’ which are well known around the world, created by Antonio Vivaldi. Italian Barocco style ‘Four Seasons’ as well as Argentinian rebellious tango artist Astoro Piazzollos ‘Four Seasons at Bueinos Aires’. Part of the funds collected will be allocated for the Vinksnupiai Manor renovation fund, which aim is to preserve the Manor from further destruction. The Manor is located in Vilkaviskis region. In the history of Lithuania, The Manor was not only an administrative unit but also a nest of culture.

‘Four Seasons’ will be performed by VDU Chamber Orchestra together with New Ideas Chamber Orchestra NIKO concertmaster, and the violinist Augusta Zuoke and Maestro Vytautas Lukocius. They will perform the Vivaldi ‘Four Seasons’ for violin.

A. Piazzolla is the creator of the Nuevo Tango in Argentina where he combined tango with jazz and classical music elements. The solo part for ‘Four Seasons at Bueinos Aires’ will be performed by …. acordionist Laimonas Salijus together with VDU Chamber Orchestra. 

Violinist AUGUSTE ZUOKE has been performing at NIKO for the fifteenth season. Together with this Chamber Orchestra she participated at more than seventy concerts in Europe, Asia and North America. As a member of this Chamber Orchestra and concertmatser since 2015 she performed at Lipzig ‘Gewandhaus’ (Germany), Odesa, Jerevan, Liublin …. , ‘St Martin – in – the Fields’ in London, ‘Kings Palace’ in Poland, ‘Great Amber Hall’ in Liepoja, as well as attended international festivals in Germany ‘Usedomer Musikfestival’, Norway ‘Festspillene i Elverum’, France ‘Toylon Musique Festival’, California ‘Ventura Music Festivsl, and many others. 

One of the best accordionists in Lithuania is LAIMONAS SALIJUS. He has won many national and international awards and gained various prizes. In 2015 in international championship of accordionists in  Austria ‘Global Trophy’ and  Lithuania ‘Global Trophy’ he was awarded the second place in the world. He is constantly performing in Lithuania and abroad as solo as well as a part of the ensemble. Laimonas performed with Klaipeda chamber orchestra, Kalabrija symphony orchestra, Lithuanian symphony orchestra, National Theatre orchestra of Brasil, and many others.

VDU Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2001 at the Academy of Vytautas Magnus University, and is the only professional orchestra in Kaunas city. It was founded not only to share the classical music and its modern interpretation of culture, but also to represent Lithuania, Kaunas city and the university globally. During its short life span orchestra already had more than 200 concerts in Lithuania and abroad. The leader of the Orchestra Is Rita Bieliauskaite. Since 2019 autumn the conductor is Vytautas Lukocius.
